Those of you who followed me before big tech censored and deleted my famous YouTube channel (4.2K subscribers btw) will know that I love Plasencia. Pour one out for those lost videos where I definitely didn't accidentally film in portrait mode half the time. Family owned from the farm to the factory, these guys have one of the best lists of cigars out there. They control everything from seed to ash, like helicopter parents but for tobacco. Their branding is awesome and so are the blends. What's near the tippity top of that list? The Alma Fuerte - which translates to "Strong Soul," not to be confused with my gym membership which translates to "Strong Delusions."

🔥 THE VITALS 🔥
Cigar: Alma Fuerte Nestor IV
Master Blender: Team of 5 including Nestor Sr. & Jr. - Democracy in action, but it actually worked
Size: 6 1/4 x 54 Toro Grande
Country of Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Nicaraguan (Jalapa)
Binder: Nicaraguan (Multiple regions)
Filler: Nicaraguan (Condega, Estelí, Jalapa, Ometepe - the whole map)
Price: ~$20
Aging: 10+ years on the tobacco
🚀 WE ARE LIT!
Draw: Great flow, zero issues - working as intended
Burn: Even and consistent, earning its keep
Smoke Output: Average production - not trying to set off smoke alarms
Ash: White and firm, holding strong
Great construction with an oily wrapper that shines like a politician's promises but actually delivers. Great draw from the start with average smoke production - it's not trying to fog out your neighbor's Ring camera, just doing its job. The dark, almost black wrapper has that sheen that says "I cost more than your lunch" and for once, it's justified. The box lid doubles as an ashtray, which is peak efficiency - like using your turn signal, revolutionary yet so obvious.
🎢 FLAVOR JOURNEY
FIRST THIRD: THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
cacao, Cream, dried fruit, cinnamon spice
Cacao hits immediately, but not the powdered stuff you put in milk when you're pretending to be healthy. This is the real deal. Cream follows, creating that hot chocolate profile that makes you forget it's not actually December. Dried fruit adds complexity while cinnamon spice brings warmth without the pumpkin spice latte connotations. The 10-year aged tobacco from four different Nicaraguan regions is flexing harder than people who post gym selfies but never show up to help friends move furniture.
SECOND THIRD: THE STAR TREATMENT
dark chocolate, stare anise, cream
Dark chocolate deepens the profile, moving from milk to dark like your mood when you check your bank balance after buying these. Star anise makes a surprise appearance - exotic and unexpected, like finding out your dentist has a SoundCloud rap career. Cream maintains its smoothness throughout, binding everything together like that one friend who keeps the group chat alive. The Criollo '98 seed tobacco is showing its pedigree here, performing like a thoroughbred that actually knows it's expensive.
FINAL THIRD: THE VICTORY LAP
chocolate, cedar, sweet leather, pepper
Chocolate maintains dominance but now it's joined by cedar, adding woody notes that balance the sweetness perfectly. Sweet leather emerges - not the new car smell variety, but the broken-in jacket that actually looks better with age. Pepper finally shows up to the party, fashionably late but making an entrance worth waiting for. The finish is long and satisfying, like finally getting the USB cable in on the first try.

🏆 THE VERDICT:
A- TIER
Flavor: A-
Construction: A-
Availability: B+ (Not impossible but not everywhere)
Price: B- (Worth it but your wallet will notice)
Final Rating:
This is near the tippity top of Plasencia's lineup for a reason. The Alma Fuerte delivers on every promise - complex flavors, excellent construction, and an experience that justifies the premium price. It's what happens when a family that's been growing tobacco for five generations decides to show off without being obnoxious about it.
📊BOTTOM LINE
The Plasencia Alma Fuerte Nestor IV is proof that sometimes the hype is real and the marketing isn't lying to you. At around $20, it's priced like it thinks highly of itself, but unlike that coworker with the same attitude, this one can back it up. The 10-year aged tobacco from every major growing region in Nicaragua creates a complexity that evolves rather than just exists. This is the cigar you smoke when you want to remember why you got into premium cigars in the first place - before you discovered you could buy 20 yard gars for the same price and convinced yourself quantity over quality was a valid life choice. Family owned from farm to factory means they're not cutting corners or outsourcing to save pennies, and it shows in every puff. RIP to my YouTube channel, but at least I can still write about cigars this good without worrying about demonetization.
TLDR: A Nicaraguan puro that actually earns its premium price tag - like finding a restaurant that's expensive because the food is good, not because it's trendy.
